Grocery delivery is saturated

Grocery delivery is unsustainable.

It’s unprofitable.

It’s over-hyped.

It’s a fad.

I was told these things in 2021.

And then again in 2022, 2023, 2024…

You get the idea.

I still hear this.

Sometimes from the same people who said it 2-3 years ago.

Wrong then, wrong now, still repeating the mantra.

Brick Meets Click just released its Q1 eGrocery data.

It turns out, delivery is finally contracting.

No, I’m kidding. It’s up 20% YoY.

𝘈𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.

But you knew that, right?

Nearly 1 in 5 grocery dollars is spent online.

And groceries still lags far behind other categories.

The craziest part?

Ultra fast delivery was the fastest growing segment.

The one that cost more and requires more efficiency.

The two popular arguments against e-grocery from jump.

Both white hot today.

By the way, the two biggest winners in e-grocery according to the report?

Walmart and Amazon.

Go figure.

Two behemoths uniquely positioned for a digital future.

I highly recommend a plan.

So who do you think competes with Walmart and Amazon long-term?

Bonus points if you name anyone that’s not Costco.
