While most of us have been mesmerized by chatGPT and Grock and perplexity,
Amazon has been quietly making a subtle $10 billion AI move.
It's all part of its continued plan for global conquest.
To set the stage, I want you to consider something interesting.
The Amazon rainforest climate is so powerful.
It impacts the climate of the entire planet.
In some ways, it drives the climate of the entire planet.
This is exactly why Jeff Bezos chose it to name Amazon.com.
He wanted a company that was so powerful, it drove the economy of the entire planet. and he didn't make it asecret.
Enter AWS and its siren song.
As Amazon grew, it required an increasingly robust technical backend.
It was a challenge, but it was a first mover challenge.
And as it developed, Bezos saw an opportunity.
Productize this technical backend and get a piece of every business on the planet.
Before long, even Amazon's competitors like eBay were using AWS.
By the way, Amazon is now the largest cloud computing company in the world and it represents a third of the world's cloud computing capacity.
Honestly, AWS was just too good to be true. It was a fast track for internet startups.
Easy to build? Absolutely. But it also proved difficult to leave just like Jeff Bezos wanted.
Enter AI in the new space race.
Most of us are now incorrectly viewing AI through the lens of chat GPT.
But chat GPT is a tool for those of us that don't really understand AI.
The real power of AI is in supply chains and top level analysis,
reading and predicting consumer level insights,
even autonomous coding and design.
It's replacing top level business managers at Walmart and Google and Meta.
The world's largest companies are racing for AI dominance.
Amazon's plan for AI dominance.
Amazon just quietly committed $10 billion to building
data centers in Mississippi and Oregon.
These data centers aren't like Amazon's existing ones.
They're designed around tranium and inferentia.
Amazon's custom chips for AI training and inference.
Amazon's goal, a full stack AI ecosystem.
Hardware, AI models, developer tools in a marketplace.
All housed under Amazon's bedrock. Voila.
Just like AWS. You build your company here, then stay forever.
