Congratulations on your Amazon success!
You’ve earned a battle with resellers. ✔️
Stick around long enough, and it’s inevitable.
As my grandmother used to say…
They’ll come out of the woodwork.
But don’t worry.
You know we’ve got you covered. ;)
Unauthorized resellers can be absolutely destructive.
They take your Buy Box and shut down ads.
They interfere with keyword ranking strategy.
They can interrupt an otherwise clean catalog.
And customer experience can be disgusting.
But you 𝘤𝘢𝘯 actually get complete control.
Having an Amazon prep center puts us in a unique position.
It becomes our responsibility, one we take seriously.
So of course; we have it DIALED.
Here are 5 steps for getting complete catalog control:
𝟭. Take Inventory. This is where you need to 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡.
- Find every single ASIN out there, and record it.
- This gives you a place to assign actions and track progress.
- Think of this as a master list to make sure every ASIN is addressed and also let’s you clearly evaluate which actions are the best for each ASIN.
𝟮. 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 Actions to every ASIN.
- This would include Trademark and Counterfeit Claims, ASIN merges, and the Transparency Program.
- Don’t file Trademark and Counterfeit Claims flippantly. You can get sued here, and you can lose that suit. Consult an attorney if you don’t know what constitutes a legal claim.
- Consider Reviews, Redundancy, and Catalog Concept when deciding which ones to keep.
𝟯. Go ahead and 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗲 those𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡’𝘀.
- Again, I’m not an attorney, and this is not legal advice. Consult an attorney if you aren’t sure.
- But I will give you some low-hanging fruit. You can file claims against ASIN’s (not against the resellers) for ASINs with “Generic” or incorrect brand names.
- I can’t say strongly enough, especially for Counterfeit claims, be right!
𝟰. 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡’𝘀.
- Useful on ASIN’s with strong rank or reviews.
- You want to keep the reviews or the rank, don’t ruin the ASIN, merge it.
𝟱. 𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡’𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆.
- This is the nuclear option.
- There’s some real work here, BUT, Resellers will NEVER be able to sell again on enrolled ASIN’s.
- This works for ASIN’s you’re keeping, and also ones you can’t get rid of.
𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗨𝗦: 𝗨𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗹 “𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲” 𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗡𝘀.
- Resellers will search “Add a product“ with your UPC’s.
- Beat them to it and get it done.
Now, one last note, Sequence is important here.
If you’ve been playing the trademark game for years, filing them over and over for all eternity…
You are missing out on some real peace of mind.
Don’t get me wrong.
This is a straightforward process, but not easy.
It is both an art and a science.
But I guarantee it can be done.
Because we’ve done it many times.
