The Secret to Eye-Level Shelf Space

It’s retail’s equivalent of beachfront real estate.
It’s every brand’s dream, really.
Well, there’s a secret to getting that coveted Eye Level Shelf Space.
And it’s easier than you think.
A report by Trax Retail suggests that moving from store shelf 4 to store shelf 5 can ⬆️ sales by 20-30%.
20-30% just from moving 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘧.
But moving from shelf 1 to 5. Forget it.
The math is powerful.
So how do we do it?
Well, you can just dump hundreds of thousands into trade spend and various store programs.
All it takes is endless cash. Super easy.
Unless of course there's an arbitrage somewhere.
An eye level shelf where the competition hasn’t caught up with the opportunity.
And there is.
That arbitrage looks like Instacart and DoorDash and Target Circle.
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘴, 70% 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘸 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 video.
So congratulations to the other 30%.
You'll enjoy that arbitrage.
Now I know, I know. Pickup and delivery are only 20% of store sales.
𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙗𝙞𝙜 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙨.
Now you may be duking it out in retail, fighting and clawing.
Hoping to get 5%... of that 80%.... of the sales that come from in-store.
Slotting fees, BOGOs, demos, rebates, circulars, and displays.
I mean, Big brands are using these tools. They must be right.
And you should leverage them too, where you can.
But positioning on Instacart and DoorDash and Walmart Spark.
This allows you to compete for digital retail shelf space.
That’s the arbitrage, where competition hasn’t caught up with the opportunity.
And remember that 20% of retail sales that come from pickup and delivery?
This isn’t about influencing your 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 of those 20% of store sales.
It's about exploiting an arbitrage to get the 𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣’𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 of that 20% that comes from pickup and delivery.
It’s not where the most sales are; it’s where the cheapest sales are.
Small rudder. Big ship.
Now tell me in the comments.
If delivery and pickup accounts for 20% of retail sales.
What do you think that number looks like in 5 years?
