Top 5 Retailers & EXACT Strategies to Boost Sales!

I had the best call yesterday.

Cool brand, cool founder, cool retail footprint.

We keep saying we’re pausing on new brands, but…

Maybe just one more, k?

Great founders and execs are a no-brainer.

The best of them are like race car drivers.

Sharp, collected, and Ethanol running through their veins.

That alone can be extremely rewarding.

But some retailers are just plain fun to work with too.

Some of them have leaned hard into creating great velocity tools.

Almost like they put a throttle in your hands.

Coach, put me in.

Here are my top 5 favorite retailers to work with:

Along with the tools we use to drive velocity in them.

1. 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗰𝗼.

First, we use Costco Media to target Costco.com shoppers.

Second, we load Instacart campaigns with only Costco SKU’s to target Instacart shoppers.  We use Sponsored product, display, and video - all driving to only Costco.

When used together, these two tools can almost guarantee success.

2. 𝗦𝗮𝗺’𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯.

First, we use Sam’s Media to target SamsClub.com shoppers.  Make sure you use the self serve platform.  The ROI associated with the managed platform is abysmal.

Second, we use Dedicated Instacart campaigns to target Instacart shoppers.  This looks a lot like Costco.  Only Sam’s SKU’s in sponsored, display, and video campaigns.

3. 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁.

First, we use Target Roundel to target Target.com shoppers.  Make sure you tightly segment your campaigns by search terms.  The more campaigns, the better.

Second, you may be able to use Instacart if you have unique SKU’s.

If not, consider DoorDash Ads.  They’re a great Target partner, and they can help you target a completely unique shopper.   As of right now, they’re invitation only, so contact us if you need help getting in.

4. 𝗞𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿.

Now, it may be that Kroger 8451 is the only tool that you can use to target Kroger specifically.  However, Kroger has quite a few ad placements, and they also recently added boosted keyword bidding so you can bid uniquely on strategic keywords.

You won’t be able to target Kroger exclusively through Instacart or DoorDash, but you will get some coverage by using Instacart and DoorDash Ads in general.

5. 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀.

First, we’re going to use the Sprouts RTD to target Sprouts.com customers.  Make sure you use display campaigns, because they’re a relatively new placement, and competition is low.

Much like Kroger, you won’t be able to target Sprouts directly through Instacart or DoorDash Ads, but you will be able to get some coverage.  They’re both great Sprouts partners.

Bonus:  BJ’s.  BJ’s works just like Costco and Sam’s, because it has it’s own ad platform, and, provided you have unique BJ’s SKU’s, you can target BJ’s directly through Instacart.

Even better, BJ’s is now partnered with DoorDash, so you can drive velocity directly to BJ’s from DoorDash Ads as well.

One final note.  Make sure you’re regularly comparing your Unit Ad Sales to your Retailer Sales Goals.  Don’t just commit budget.  Use your ad activity to reach the Turns per SKU per Door per Week that you need.
