5 Ways to Target Specific Retailers with Instacart Ads

“You can’t target specific retailers with Instacart.”

All except for when you can.

Now if you know me, you know I love a good challenge.

Give me your hardest retail velocity problem.

A retailer where you’re not selling enough, or you need to sell more to grow the account…

I’ll find every conceivable digital tool to grow that account.

With all of that said,  Instacart and DoorDash ads offer generalized retail growth.

You unfortunately can’t target specific retailers.

And so they are too often left out of the retail velocity solution.

But Instacart Ads is like Batman’s Utility belt.

It’s got a little something for every problem.

And frankly, we are finding  new ways to use it all the time.

Here are 5 ways Instacart Ads can target specific retailers:

𝟭.  𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗕𝗼𝘅 / 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯.

- Because Club stores almost always require unique SKU’s, you can target these chains directly and specifically.

𝟮.  𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹.

- We generally see this when D2C or influencer brands move into retail.

- We see this a lot in innovation retailers like Sprouts.

- If you’re not really in other retailers, we’ll target the one you’re in at that stage by default.

𝟯.  𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆.

- This looks like, Retailer ‘X’ getting say, say 6 months of exclusivity.

- During those 6 months, no one else has that SKU, so we can isolate it in an Instacart campaign.

𝟰.  𝗥𝗧𝗗 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀.

- If you aren’t familiar, RTD accounts are like Instacart sub accounts.

- They’re Specialized accounts that target 9 different retailers, including, Sprouts, Thrive Market, Schnuck’s, and others.

𝟱.  𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗦𝗞𝗨’𝘀.

- This is when a retailer asks for a unique flavor or configuration.

- We actually see this a lot in retailers like Target, where you sell say 5-packs, but they want a 4-pack.  Honestly, we have seen it at almost every retailer.

- We even have some brands that create unique SKU’s with a retailer just so they can isolate it with Instacart Ads (and also DoorDash Ads).

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 #1:  You can now target Uber Eats through Instacart.  And it works pretty well.

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 #2:  You can now create bundles in Instacart.

Bonus #3:  These solutions are just what you can do with Instacart.  When you start to pair in solutions like Whole Food Ads and Costco Media and Wakefern Ads - there are endless combinations depending on the problem you’re trying to solve.

The key takeaway is that Every single retail velocity problem has a unique solution.

Whomever is managing your Instacart Ads

…they should be able to put together the right solution for every platform.

Now most importantly, who was the best Batman?

Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, or Eugene Levy?
