(And how to implement them.)
Here are some of the top trends we're seeing in marketing:
1. Community Driven Marketing.
People have become more digital, and more remote, but no less human. Brands with highly niche, highly engaged ”families” are winning.
2. Gamify it. All of it.
Send your community on journeys. Reward them for creating unique recipes or posts. Incentivize them with points. Gamification will be the noise-breaker of 2025.
3. Trend-jacking.
Virality is getting harder and harder to achieve. But it’s much easier if you jump on someone else else’s. Do it early.
4. Sensory Marketing.
Any opportunity to see, touch, smell, or taste. Ingredient and flavor profiles to illicit emotion in digital campaigns, packaging, windows, connections to familiar aroma’s, etc.
5. Serialized Marketing.
The storytelling version of gamification, serialized marketing holds back the end of the story. Small episodic content that keeps the user coming back for the next chapter.
6. Supply Chain Transparency.
This is a step beyond sustainability. Consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable practices, and they are acutely interested in the journey from farm to table.
7. Hyper-personalization.
Did I mention the hyper part? Point systems that reward customers with what they actually value, content built around your niche customer profile, and even handwritten notes. People want to be known intimately.
What worked yesterday won’t necessarily work today.
And it almost definitely won’t work tomorrow.
What marketing trends am I missing?
